Today we headed to the local folk festival. I'd never been to it before, and it was really neat! The first two shots are of the glass-blowing demonstration, the third is blueberry pancake candles. See the wicks? Pretty cool!

I've been experimenting in b/w a lot lately, and these pictures just seemed to give off that tone. My mom, sis, bro & I headed to Sandy Hook this morning with a group of friends. We relaxed on the beach and squeezed in the last tour up the lighthouse at the end of the day. Sandy Hook Lighthouse is the oldest operating light in the US.

Yesterday we got five butterfly bushes, two daises, and some pretty purple ones. (The name escapes me!) Today I spent five hours making room for them. It was well worth it..they look great! Here are the before/after shots. Inside the fence Before, After. Outside the fence before1, before2, andd...after!
I happen to think it looks wonderful! I can't wait for them to get bigger and bloom! Also..you should check out this contest that Shutterfli is having!

We stopped by the greenhouse to get some butterfly bushes for the yard and I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of the lilies, - they were so pretty!

Friday, June 26, 2009

After a heck of a storm (lightning, thunder, hail, pouring rain, pretty awesome!) there was a rainbow. It was really pretty! I kept looking outside in hopes of one..and finally saw it!

The butterfly man came to camp today! He taught us all kinds of interesting things, like if you put a butterfly in a bag in the fridge for 3-5 minutes they'll fall asleep. Then you can put them on noses and fun places! I got some information on butterfly bushes too! We used to have two, but they were torn down. We plan to put up some new ones soon. Check out his website..it's really quite something! www.butterflywebsite.com

I told you the theme was bugs! How cute is this guy? His name is Hermie.

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

I'm helping at a day camp this week, the theme is "Birds, Buds, & Butterflies." Someone found this moth and he was pretty! Tomorrow's picture won't be up until Thursday, we're having a camp-out.

I worked a very busy full day at a camp I help at, and this was the only picture I took today. I like the DOF and soft colors.

Two of my friends and I went midnight bowling last night/this morning. It was lots of fun, despite the fact that I'm not very good at bowling! New blog header in honor of summer!

Tonight's sunset was wonderful. I love the soft, diffused oranges in the right of the picture, and the dark blues that give a sense of space in the top.

I decided to start putting my signature on my pictures. I was advised to by a couple that are photographers, whose opinions I hold high. I added a black or white border to compliment the shot. Back to the pictures. I took them at our friends house, she has a photographer's wonderland. I loved the old Plymouth, and I thought the shot did best in grayscale. The barn was such a nice deep red that I had to use it for something, so I picked the basketball hoop out and used the tree for a bit of green to keep the eyes happy.

I tried an infinite amount of crops with this picture, but I ended up sticking with the original minus a smidge on the bottom. I couldn't seem to get the glare out of the shot! Ah well, I won anyways!

I had a short burst of energy and went outside to take this..cooled me off a bit, it's around 50 degrees out there! Chilly for June. My tests came back negative for swine flu, and I'm feeling a bit perkier today! :)

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Today's picture is not incredibly wonderful, but I've been sick with a 101 fever all day so I didn't have much energy to photograph anything other than my fish.

Monday, June 15, 2009

I've been meaning to take pictures of these flowers for a while, and it was just too nice out to say no!

Sunday, June 14, 2009

I'm not much of one for b&w, but I thought this was cute. Mac had a busy today, I gave him a bath and a through grooming. Now he's not shedding quite as much as before, thank goodness!

Saturday, June 13, 2009

I had a softball tournament all day today, so I really didn't get much of a chance to shoot pictures. I did catch this this morning and I thought the varying clouds we're lovely.

Friday, June 12, 2009

My grandparents have a pair of Carolina Wren's using their bluebird box I put up for them. Neither of mine are in use, so it's good to see one with little birdies!

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Mhmmm! I love Chinese food, we haven't gotten it in ages! My forture cookies tells me that I should learn Chinese (jiang means sauce) and that "Winning starts with beginning."

Puppy Picking

Today I went with my friend to help her pick out their new puppy. There was seven of them..and they were way too cute. They picked out this adorable little gal!

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

Just some footprints, or dogprints. I don't know, I'm tired. haha.

Monday, June 8, 2009

I love poppies, and they looked kinda cute just sticking up there!

Sunday, June 7, 2009

Today we played hookey from church (hey, I haven't skipped in months!) and went out to East Broad Top Railroad, Mt. Union, & Harrisburg. We chased the train, photographed the train, and rode the train. Lots of fun! I'd heard about old boxcars from WWII, and being a history geek we had to check them out. Took a while to find them, but we did! They were really cool. The last shot is the moon rising over the Pennsylvania capital, Harrisburg. It was really gorgeous!

Saturday, June 6, 2009

It's funny how your view changes when you're a photographer. Some people see grass and a setting sun..I see the need for my telephoto and cross filter, to capture this. I actually really like this!

Friday, June 5, 2009

I dub two pictures for today. One was a picture of our roses out back, they're looking lovely right now! The second shot was from my youth group's senior formal tonight on the dance floor. I zoomed out on the shot during the exposure creating the trailing lights.

Thursday, June 4, 2009

The trailing headlights and brake lights in the city. This was at 300mm, 30 second exposure from the top of the hill. Pretty neat view from up there.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Today I just couldn't seem to get a decent picture. I tried outside, the fish, dogs, nothing. I saw my bible on my desk and saw the shot. Got my tripod and shot away.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Fresh green starting to come up as June is already here. Doesn't time fly!

Monday, June 1, 2009

Just tonight's sunset. Sometimes keeping this blog up daily can be a bit challenging!
