Pumpkin Line-Up

I took a lot of pictures today, just not many of not-people! My friend's family hosted a fall fling for the families of the church & youth group this afternoon and it was a blast. We had 'hayrides' on the fire truck, fresh-cut fries, and of course, - pumpkin carving! I'm not sure which of these actually one, but they're pretty cute.

Cloudy Birder's Day

After work today my Dad & I headed up to Hawk Mountain. Unfortunatly, it wasn't a great day for seeing birds (we saw a lot of Cedar Waxwings, a group of seven turkey vultues, [second picture, look hard] and a falcon) or for pictures. There was only about five birders, including myself, up at North Lookout. I talked a while with an older gentlemen, he was really sweet. Said it was nice to see someone so passionate for something (my photography). Something he said caught my ears, "Some of the most boring people I know are considering to be the 'coolest'." Think on that one for a while.

Wall's End

More dreary falls skies fill the air! Kinda yucky out, especially since most of the color has been wiped away by the rains we've had the last few days. Creeks are ready to burst, fields are flooded, I wish it would turn to snow!

New Lens!

I got a new lens today! I ordered it last Wednesday and it arrived today. I've had my camera for almost two years, so some new glass is really exciting. It's a Minolta fixed 50mm, 1.7. It's so fast, and the DOF is amazing! No lie! See how shallow the focus in the picture is? It's crazy awesome ! A little tricky, any slight move and you've got an eyebrow instead of an eye in focus. Expect a lot of pictures from it coming up! Also..re-did the signature at the bottom of my pictures, I'm still working on it though. Thoughts?

Green Sprouts

Looks more like a picture you'd see in the spring! My little sister came home with a bean plant a few days ago, I'm not sure where it came from actually. - But tonight I made sure she'd have a picture of it to keep!

Fall Panoramic

Fall at the Farm

My family headed over to a family friend's for their annual pumpkin party! I did escape for a while to wonder around the farm and take pictures, there's endless picture possibilites there! I happen to love cows, I'm pretty sure I've said that quite a few times already. But here's a picture of one again on my blog. He's really just too cute though!

Pickin' Pumpkins

My friend's family & I went to a local farm today to pick pumpkins. We carved them, they came out super cute! I'll probably have a picture of mine with a candle in him at night later in the month.

Cake Class

My sister has been taking a cake decorating class at an art and craft store recently every Friday night. Comes home with a pretty and yummy cake each week!

Valley Forge

Today we headed out to Valley Forge Historical Park just outside of Philadelphia. - For those non-history geeks, it's where the Continental Army camped during the winter of 1777, from December '77 to June '78. The first picture is the Memorial Arch, the second was reenactment of the gun drilling (part of the various homeschooler activties!), the third were some gorgeous leaves (one of my favorite shots so far this fall!) and the fourth I took on the way home. My mother was gracious enough to stop by the creek so I could take some pictures. Fun fall days!

Starry Night

I got up at 5:30am this morning to see the Meteor Showers. I did see some, it was pretty neat. Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced my camera release cable so it made it difficult to take exposures longer than 30 seconds. - So I didn't actually capture any meteors falling. I got this pretty picture of the valley and stars though! Thankfully we had a gorgeous, clear night!

Sunkissed

One of the interesting things about doing this project (taking a picture a day) is the 'props', or photo-ops that are used many times over again, - just seen in a different way. I've photographed baked goods maybe 15 or more times since Janurary, and finding a new way to see them can be challenging. I can't think of a better way to learn how to be creative! Here and here are two different days I shot some of our grass bushes, - very different.

Colors of Fall

I've been passing these gorgeous trees on my way to work all of last & this week, so I finally stopped. So pretty!

Petite & Pink

I'm amazed these flowers are standing up so well against the colder temperatures lately. Still looking pretty nice!

Ruby-Crowned Kinglet

Spotted a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet today in my grandparents tree. Me and my friend saw one last Saturday actually, they must be heading through the state right now.

Fall Rain

Cold winter rain, wind, almost freezing temperatures. Fun stuff! I wish it would turn to snow, that'd make for some awesome pictures.

Fall Traditions

My little sister has always enjoyed putting window-clings on our deck doors, - then rearranging them day after day! This one has stayed put for a few days now, I must say it's one of my favorites.

Banana Muffins

We had a few mushy bananas with no willing eaters around the house this week. So I decided to continue my quest, - to make my siblings eat more fruit and veggies unknowingly! These banana muffins were extremely delicious, with brown sugar & cinnamon on top, yummy! You can find the recipe right here!

Dairy Trip

We headed to the local Dairy today for a hayride, corn maze, the petting zoo and more! You may already know this, but I love large animals. Alpacas, cows, donkeys, you name it - if they're big I probably love them! And cow whiskers? They're the cutest things ever!

Warming Up

My little sisters soccer team running "warm-ups" before the game started. I'm not sure if they ever warmed up on a chilly night like this!

Mums Explosion

Mums are such pretty flowers. I must say they're one of my favorites! Just one more reason I adore fall.

Growing

As you might remember, back in June I went with my friend to help her pick our her puppy. She was tiny then, but is a monster now! Thought I'd include a picture of one of the new barncat's kittens too!

Color Hints

Late sunshine turns trees a different shade of color this time of year, seems almost like it's burning them. Tonight was only hazy though, with a slight pink/orange hint.

I Spy

..a fish tail! Henry is a loner these days, I really should get him a buddy. He seems pretty happy to have the whole bowl to himself though!

I shot this at a stop sign on our way home from the library today. It was taken through my Mom's side-view mirror, and I thought it was interesting enough.

Soft Vibrace

We haven't had flowers in the house for a while, and these pretty yellow ones were in need of some photographing!

Creeks and Fungi

Every year we go to a Homeschooler Outdoor Education day at a local camp. It's always a lot of fun, learning in the morning and then hayrides, row boats and canoes in the afternoon. I always love to wander around camp finding all the interesting things in the woods, like this fungi. - Plus the gorgeous scenes beside the creek!

Skillet Live

If you're familiar with the Christian Rock group, Skillet, this is their lead singer, - John Cooper. Tonight I had the privilege of seeing them live at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. It was probably one of my favorite concerts ever!

Agility & Police Dogs

Today was a lovely early October day, so we headed to the local heritage festival. They had dog agility and police demonstrations, both of which I enjoyed photographing! The last shot is just some more leaves, I love them!

Lots of Laughs

Tonight my Dad took myself, my friend and sister to see Tim Hawkins at PBU. It was such a great night, he's hilarious. If you don't know who he is, he's an amazing Christian comedian. - Check him out, -Here!
